The inaugural Councillor Magee Youth Challenge Shield.

What an event we had, the most promising youth players from across the region gathered together to battle it out for the glory of holding the Councillor Magee Youth Challenge Shield. A fine display of bowling was shown by all bowlers throughout the day.

A closely fought event coming down to the last 2 games to decide the overall champions and runners-up.

Thank you to Councillor Charlie Magee for donating funds to make the event possible and turn out to be a great success.

The worthy winners being Alex Portway and Jamie Brass (shown below), along with Gary Embleton and James Sneller who battled all day to reach the 2nd place spot, well done to you all. Prizes of bowls equipment vouchers were presented to the above 4 players, accompanied by miniature versions of the shield.

Alex and Jamie will also have the honour of being the first names to appear on the Shield. All 4 players were invited back for the 2011 Challenge, unfortunately Alex will be too old to participate, but we are sure he will be a force to be reckoned with as he progresses with his bowling career.
